2018 Martin Ray Estate Clone 37 Pinot Noir
Made to pay tribute to our heritage and Martin Ray’s history with Pinot Noir, who brought Clone 37 himself from France in the 1930’s. This wine exemplifies a true Burgundian profile, with a lean, acid-driven core, firm but silky tannins, and earthy tones throughout.
Tower Block, Martin Ray Estate
Less than 2 acres it sits at the top of the Laguna Ridge in the heart of the Russian River Valley.
100% Pinot Noir
From start to finish, 2018 was a very steady season, offering weather that was reminiscent of years prior to drought. Higher than average yields and excellent quality brought about a fruitful harvest beginning in late August.
Cold-soaked in a single four ton open top fermenter with only native yeast. Maintained at moderate temperatures until dry, basket-pressed, and racked to 45% new French oak for 11 months.
Candied cranberry and juicy red apple, layered with earthy notes of cherry bark and fresh grated nutmeg. Vibrant cherry, morel mushroom and white pepper with supple tannins and a touch of toffee.
