2014 Martin Ray Moon Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
We are rereleasing a small quantity of this wine today only for the eclipse at a 1 bottle per customer limit.
Moon Mountain District only very recently became a recognized California AVA. Sitting on the western slopes of the Mayacama Mountains that divide Sonoma and Napa Valleys, this AVA is every bit as deserving of notoriety as are Atlas Peak, Diamond Mountain, and Mt. Veeder just across the ridge. The same volcanic soil, at similar elevations, but with the twist of having the cool evening courtesy of the San Pablo Bay, make this small mountaintop ideal for concentrated Cabernets.
The 2014 vintage was challenging due to drought, but produced amazing fruit with smaller clusters and lower yields. An ideal harvest with consistently moderate temperatures and weather conditions, allowed the vines and fruit to stay healthy and maintain concentrated flavors and exceptional quality.
